Charles Donald Mitchell Sr., 83, of Somerset, died Nov. 4, 2012 at his home. Born June 12, 1929 in Center Township, Greene County, he is the son of Charles Wesley and Mary (Fordyce) Mitchell. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Wesley, Melvin and Harold, and sister Grace. Survived by wife, the former Eleanor Delorse (Pollock) to whom he was married 63 years; children: Charles D. Mitchell Jr., married to the former Kathy Knepper of Somerset; Denver Snyder and husband Jeffrey of New Centerville; Cathy Lynn Doyle and husband Todd of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren: Rebecca Hersh and husband Dennis; Charles Mitchell III and wife Kathy; Michael Mitchell and wife Nicole; Jessica Sanner and husband Bradley; Branden Snyder, Wesley Wray, Wilson Wray and Christian Doyle; great-grandchildren: Michael, Harlie, Kasie and Lucas. Charles worked until his retirement as a union heavy equipment operator/pipeliner. He was a member of Local 66 Operators and Engineers, Somerset Sportsman’s Club and Roof Garden Christian Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and one hour prior to the service, which will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Roof Garden Christian Church, Somerset, with the Rev.
