Twila Pauline Ogburn "Gug", passed on to heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the age of 92 years. Gug (a nickname for grandma given by first grandchild, Angela, when she was two years old), was the loving mother of three, grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 14. She was extremely proud of her family, with a loving heart, only an extraordinary person could impart. Twila was born in Jenner Township, Somerset County, on Aug. 17, 1920 to Lawrence and Margaret (Blough) Speigle. She grew up a farm girl and became a registered nurse, working at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C., which was one of the loves of her life. Taking care of others before self was a theme of her life. She is predeceased by the following brothers and sisters and spouses: Richard (Helen Spisak) Speigle, Paul (LaVerne Cable) Speigle, Edith (Ray Miller), Oscar Speigle, Erma (Norman Hostetler), Cora Speigle, Dalton (Dorothy Wentz who survives) Speigle. Twila was married to John Mark Ogburn (1921-2002). They had three children, Roy (Jean Wentz) Ogburn of Glencoe; Marvin of Harrisonburg, Va.; and Joyce (John Cash) of Triangle, Va. Gug has 12 special grandchildren: Angela (Michael Noyes), Betsy (Stephen Konefal), Valerie (Tod Bramble), Lydia (Dean Mulcaster), Elisha Ogburn and Ruston (Jenna Zorn) Ogburn; Erin (Frank Policastro) and Joshua Ogburn; and Jennifer, Pamela, Jessica and Heather Cash; and 14, soon to be 16, great-grandchildren, Madalena, Natalia and Suzannah Noyes; Ella, Thea and Jonas Konefal; Cooper and Eliot Bramble; Ackerly and Lincoln Mulcaster; Avery, Gentry and Camry Ogburn and Vesper Ogburn. A new Policastro child from Erin and Frank and a new Ogburn child from Jenna and Ruston, are scheduled to arrive within a week. All of her family gave Gug so much joy and she will always lend strength and inspiration to each of them. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Springs Mennonite Church, Springs. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springs Cemetery. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, is in charge of arrangements.
