Robert Glen Barron, 90, Laurel View Village, died Jan. 13, 2013. Born Aug. 24, 1922, in Johnstown, son of John and Irma (Weaver) Barron. Preceded in death by parents; son, Robert; and grandson, Waylan Edward Barron. He graduated from Ferndale High School, Class of 1942, where he met and eventually married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Mitchell, on Aug. 4, 1944. In addition to his wife, he also is survived by sisters, Dorothy Fisher and Joann Hufford, both of Florida; daughter, Debbie, married to Paul Petrunak; and son, John, married to the former Laura Burkett, both of Johnstown; grandchildren, Jill Nagy; Robert, Jonathan, James, Daniel, Jeffrey, Sarah and Patricia Petrunak; Katie Kozielec; and Patrick, Rebecca and Colin Barron; and seven great-grandchildren. He served in the 9th Engineer Battalion in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Former owner of Robert Barron Greenhouse, Riverside. For years, he was the director for Lake Stonycreek Water Ski Show. He ended each show by flying the kite on water skis. Lifelong member of Riverside Grace Brethren Church. Member of Riverside Volunteer Fire Company and Ferndale Lions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and growing plants. He will be remembered for his candy making. He took pride in all the accomplishments of his grandchildren, both in athletics and academics. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Wes Yoder. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
