Thelma Malinda Sayler, 101, of Garrett, died Jan. 26, 2013 at her home. Born Nov. 26, 1911 in Garrett, the daughter of Howard Keener and Ora Grace (Walker) Hay. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cloyd Barron "Peewee" Sayler, who died Oct. 29, 1990; and son, John H. Sayler. Survived by son Samuel B. Sayler of Somerset; grandchildren: John W. Sayler of Garrett; Jan S. Layton and husband Bill of Johnstown; James A. Sayler and wife Joan of Meyersdale; great-grandchildren: Adam Sayler, Ajenna Salazar, Justin, Ian, Emily and Elizabeth Sayler, Rob Layton, Janelle Mowery and Kaley Stanczyk; great-great-grandchildren Ayla, Farrah and Elle. Thelma is a graduate of Meyersdale High School. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Quilters Guild, also a member of Trinity Chapter 138 OES. Thelma was known for her great memory and enjoyed playing cards and baking. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. J. Matthew Deal officiating.
