Eugene H. "Gene" Custer, 71, Cairnbrook, died Jan. 26, 2013. Born May 22, 1941 the son of Richard and Hazel (Boyer) Custer. Preceded in death by parents, brother Gerald, and father-in-law James T. Wahl. Survived by wife the former Donna Lee Wahl, children: Dan, Charles, James, Kelly, stepson, Brian E. Fulton, and mother-in-law Rose E. Wahl. Brother of James (Dorothy), Cairnbrook, Dolly (Calvin) Becker, Audrey (Marlin) Edwards, both of Central City, David (Denise) of Somerset. Also survived by sister-in-law Sharon and a number of nieces, nephews and loving in-laws. A U.S. Navy veteran. Employed 23 years by PBS and 10 years at Shade Landfill as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator. Gene was very creative and artistic with the ability to make something beautiful from nothing. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Glen Rousselle.
