Violet Gary Sanner, 95, of Rockwood, passed on Aug. 12, 2012, at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 28, 1916, in Milford Township, she is the daughter of the late Jonas and Lucinda (Lyons) Gary. She is also preceded in death by her husband George M. Sanner in 1967; daughter Kathryn Louise Sanner; granddaughter Kathryn Shumar; sister Ruth Bailey; and brothers Silas, Kenneth, and Walter Gary. Violet is survived by her son George J. Sanner and wife Juanita (Pritts) of Rockwood; daughter Sandi Sanner of Bargersville, Ind.; grandchildren Shawn L. Sanner of Boswell and Scott G. Sanner and wife Kathryn (Gavaghan) of Wake Forest, N.C.; and great-grandchildren Jack, Tim, and Eileen Sanner. Violet was a long-time employee of the Rockwood school district, where she worked in food service. She loved to travel with friends and take bus trips. She also enjoyed gardening. She was a faithful member of the Rockwood Church of the Brethren. Violet had a strong faith in the Lord and lived by her quote: “Try to accept whatever happens and make the best of it without being bitter. Things always work out, even if it is really hard at the time”. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Rockwood, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, pastor Jay Christner officiating. Interment at Husband Cemetery, Somerset. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be sent to a charity of choice.
