Phyllis I. Gower, 74, Confluence, passed away Feb. 19, 2013, at Somerset Hospital. She was born April 1, 1938 in Stoystown, a daughter of Calvin S. and Kathryn (Myers) Tressler. Her parents, husband Dale Gower and brother Paul Tressler preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother, Ray R. Tressler of Confluence, nieces, Debbie Ogline, Markleton, Sheila McClintock, Confluence and Autumn Muehlbauer, Denton, Md. and a number of great nieces and nephews. Phyllis was an avid supporter of the Somerset County Humane Society and at various times in her life was employed at the sewing factory in New Centerville, Coleman Mfg., Somerset, Turkeyfoot Valley School cafeteria and as a van driver for disabled school children. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the hour of service Friday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence. Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment in Silbaugh Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Phyllis’ name may be directed to the Somerset County Humane Society.
