James Ross Hay, 70, of Rockwood, died March 2, 2013 at Somerset Hospice House. Born Feb. 10, 1943 in Somerset, the son of Orlo Melvin Hay Sr. and Esther M. (Mort) Hay. Preceded in death by parents; grandson Kody Hay; sister Dorothy Auriemma; and brothers, William Sr., Orlo Jr. and Jay David Hay Sr. Survived by wife, the former Mary Lou (Rinick) to whom he was married 48 years; children: Tammy Hoover and husband Kevin of New Centerville; Jody Kolarik and husband Daniel of White; Wendy Metheney and husband Chuck of Confluence; Becky Weyant and husband Brian of Somerset; James W. Hay and fiance Tiffany Ash of Bakersville; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Mary Schlag of Monks Corner, S.C.; John Hay and wife Shirley of Mt. Pleasant; Betty Setinsek and husband Tony of North Lima, Ohio; Robert Hay of Johnstown; Richard Hay and wife Joyce of Berlin; Ralph Hay and wife Janet of Rockwood; Charles Hay and wife Gloria of Berlin. James is a 1961 graduate of Meyersdale High School. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and later worked for Seven Springs Resort where he retired. Also a member of the Rayman Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Charles Hay officiating.
