Robert T. Snyder, 87, of Somerset formerly of Stoystown, died Aug. 22, 2012, at The Patriot. Born July 5, 1925, in Kimmelton son of Elwood Milton and Ida Belle (McClemens) Snyder. Preceded in death by parents, son Bradley Alan, and sister Sue Ann Riddell-Bucko. Survived by his wife of 58 years the former Dolly Jean McVicker; son Robert M. married to the former Sally Firestone, Stoystown; daughter Beth married to Bruce Pile, Friedens; grandchildren: Christopher Robert Snyder and fiancée Chelsea Lynn Shawley, and Jacob Bradley and Emma Dolly Pile; and sister Betty married to Robert Johnson, Stoystown. He was a graduate of Shanksville Stonycreek High School, and World War II Navy veteran. Retired from Exxon Corp. Somerset North Plaza. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed motorcycling, coin and antique bottle collecting. He spent much time in the great outdoors, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Dennis Zimmerman officiating.
