Rev. George W. Walton, The Villages Cornerstone Hospice, Fla.

Rev. George W. Walton died on April 9, 2013, at The Villages Cornerstone Hospice, Fla. He is survived by his wife, Martha ( Moore) Walton; his parents, George H. and Pauline Walton; by nine children: Kevin Walton of Novi, Mich.; Bob Walton of Yorktown, Va.;  Mark Walton of Chambersburg; Terry Walton Sensenderfer, of Chambersburg; Amy Walton Koehnke of  Lancaster;  Ayren Walton Sarver of Altoona; Marci Walton Walter, of Chambersburg;  Edsel Walton of Hamlet N.C.; and Ryan Walton-King of Atlanta, Ga. He is also survived by two siblings: Gary Walton of Deltona, Fla.; and Karen Walton Jerzerick of Lewisberry; twenty-two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.George was born in McKeesport, April 18, 1944. He received degrees from West Virginia Wesleyan College and Philadelphia Lutheran Theological Seminary. George served Hope Lutheran Church in Oscoda, Mich., and Casebeer Lutheran Church in Somerset. He retired from Freedom in Christ Ministries in Somerset, in 2009. George truly had a pastor’s heart of compassion and love for all people. He especially loved the role of counselor, and helped many discover the love of God for them in the midst of hard circumstances. Many attest to his influence in their individual growth in faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. He valued family and family traditions and loved a memorable celebration and a hearty laugh. Memorial donations may be made to The Villagers For Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, Florida 32162. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 11, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S.
