Clifford E. Thiel, 92, formerly of Sipesville, died May 14, 2013, at The Patriot. Born Dec. 22, 1920, in Jennerstown, son of Charles C. and Agnes S. (Allen) Thiel. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, the former Dorothy Deist, Nov. 25, 1949; second wife, the former Grace M. Shockey, May 31, 2007; sisters Lillie, Sarah, Florence and Elizabeth; and brothers John, Lewis and Irvin. Survived by daughter Linda M., married to Terry Surgoine, Gray; son Roy I., married to Mary Funk, Rowlesburg, W.Va.; grandchildren Donald (Kim) Messer, Mildred (Jon) Gansor, Tressa (Don) Moats, Eugene (Tammy) Thiel and Sandra Thiel. Also survived by 14 great-grandchildren. Member of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Somerset Pike, and lifetime member of the DAV. Army veteran of World War II. Artificial inseminator for Curtis Breeding Service and Select Sires for many years. Enjoyed raising sweet apples in his own orchard. Was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services , 409 Main St. , Boswell , where service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Pastor Dennis L.
