Sarah "Sally" Lucinda Zahar, 88, Chambersburg and formerly of Boswell, passed away Monday morning, July 15, 2013, at Menno Haven. Born July 1, 1925, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Nellie Meyers Snowberger. A 1943 graduate of Boswell High School, Sally worked in Detroit, Mich., during World War II as a riveter on B-29 Bombers and was a part of the group of women that became known as “Rosie the Riveter.” Sally was employed as a Surgical Nurse in Sarasota, Fla., and later returned to Boswell and worked for many years as a nurse at The Boswell Clinic until her retirement. Her husband, Joseph J. Zahar preceded her in death on March 4, 1995. She is survived by her son, Dr. Claude Zahar and his wife Cindy Sachs of Chambersburg. Private interment will be at Somerset Memorial Park, Somerset. There will be no viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L.
