James L. "Snap" Oester, 82, of Canton, Ohio

James L. "Snap" Oester, age 82 of Canton, Ohio passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at Aultman Hospital surrounded by his wife and family. He was born May 5, 1931 in Meyersdale, the son of the late Lewis and Ruth Oester. Raised in the village of Springs, James lived his entire adult life in Canton, Ohio where he was known to many as "Pork" or "Jethro". James was employed in a variety of manufacturing and trucking jobs, retiring from Lattavo Brothers in 1996 with 17 years of service. He also worked as a driving instructor at Big-Rig Truck Driving School and the Hamrick Schools until 2012.  A lifelong church member, James attended North Industry Christian Church for 37 years where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and van driver. His parents and two brothers, Daniel and David, precede James in death. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Retha; daughters, Pam (Neil) Schorsten and Renee' Hayashi; son, Eric (Becky) Oester; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family, friends and co-workers are invited to share in his memory at 12 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 at the North Industry Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
