Helen Cora Tallentire, 93, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Windy Hill Village Personal Care Home, Kingwood, W.Va., with family by her side. The daughter of the late Robert and Clara Stander Stoppe, she was born Nov. 27, 1918, in Jennerstown. She was the last remaining member of her generation in both her family and her husband's family. Helen loved God and lived a good, Christian life. She was a member of the Liberty Church of God at Glade Farms. She taught Sunday school for many years and could quote scriptures better than most preachers. She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. If you stopped at her home, she always insisted you have a drink and something to eat. She loved to sew and made quilts, bunnies and pillows for all of her children and grandchildren and for many others. After her husband passed away, her greatest joy was riding the Senior Citizen bus and going shopping with the "old biddies,” which is what she called her senior friends, even though she was the oldest on the bus. They always teased her and called her the "bag lady" because her arms were always filled with plastic shopping bags. Helen is survived by two sons and spouses, Thomas and Judy Tallentire of Friedens, and James and Lois Tallentire of Markleysburg; two daughters, Joann Shaw of Stoystown, and Fern and husband Joe Gregg, of Reedsville; a daughter-in-law and husband, Barbara (Tallentire) and Marvin Stanley of Beaufort, S.C.; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her "adopted family" and very special friends, Darlene and Fred Lint, son Steven and his fiancé Elaine, all of Markleysburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joshua B. Tallentire, Jan. 7, 1999; a son, J.D. Tallentire; a son-in-law, Albert Shaw, and a grandson, Joshua Eric Tallentire; four brothers; and two sisters. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills from 2 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14 and from 10 a.m. Saturday Sept. 15, 2012, until the 1 p.m. time of service at the funeral home with Pastors Ron Hoskinson and Martin Stewart officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Corporation, P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV   26520 or Liberty Church of God, 22995 North Preston Highway, Bruceton Mills, WV   26525. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the nurses, aides and care givers at Windy Hill and Hospice for taking such good case of their loved one. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.spearfuneralhome.net.
