James Robert Stiffey, 75, of Berlin, died July 22, 2013, at Somerset Hospital, Somerset. Born Jan. 12, 1938, in Stonycreek Township, son of Robert Albert and Elizabeth Ann (Lohr) Stiffey. Preceded in death by parents, brother David Stiffey, and sisters Evelyn Douds and Dolly Miller. Survived by wife the former Shirley Ann Baer to whom he was married 48 years; children: Johnny Stiffey, Belinda Gross and fiance Gary Lape all of Berlin, Debby Troutman and husband Vernon of Rockwood, Louis Gross of Erie, grandchildren: Holly, Jennifer and Jason Troutman. Brothers: Joseph, Albert, Marty, Bill and Phillip Stiffey, sisters: Betty Stiffey, Donna Hutzell, and Louise Bucy; brothers-in-law Paul Miller and Donald Baer and his dog Sunshine. James worked until his retirement in the maintenance department for Somerset School District. He was a life member of Mountain Field and Stream Club. Friends received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25, with the Rev. Sam Coughenour officiating.
