Susie A. Weimer, 100, of Rockwood, went to be with her Lord on July 25, 2013. Susie was born on March 2, 1913 in Black Township, the eldest of fourteen children of James F. and Catherine Sadie (Gephart) Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth W. Weimer Sr.; and brothers and sisters: James “Jack” Mitchell, Hilda Young, Mary Steele, Herman Mitchell, Gladys Walk, George Mitchell, Robert “Bob” Mitchell, Thelma Burock, and Floyd Mitchell. Susie is survived by two sons, Kenneth and Gary. Kenneth Weimer Jr. is married to Carol (Bittner) of Rockwood. Their children are Anita Hetzer of Listie, Gerald Weimer, Brian Weimer married to Patricia “Tresa” (Yoho), all of Morgantown, W.Va., and Keith married to Inez (Cramer) of Rockwood. Gary Weimer is married to Pamela (King) of Markleton. Their children are Kara Reed married to Brandon of Clarksville, Tenn. and Eleas Weimer of Auburn, Ala. Also, Susie is survived by great-grandchildren Bethany Weimer of Morgantown, W.Va., Elaina Knopsnyder and husband William, Victoria Hetzer, all of Somerset, Alexander Hetzer of Listie, Benjamin, Clairessa, Deanna, and Dylan Weimer, all of Morgantown, W.Va., and Addelin and Bauer Reed of Clarksville, Tenn., and great-great-grandaughters Delenn Hetzer and Teyla Knopsnyder of Somerset. In addition, surviving are her siblings, Ernest “Ernie” Mitchell of Rockwood, Florence “Dolly” Kelly of Garrett, Everett “Buss” Mitchell of Rockwood, and William “Bill” Mitchell and wife Nancy (Sutton) of Somerset; and sisters-in-law Verna (Miller) Mitchell and Gladys (Chaney) Mitchell, both of Somerset, Anola “Noly” (Shroyer) Mitchell of Berlin, and Rose “Kelly” Flack of North Tonawanda, N.Y. Susie is a 1930 graduate of Rockwood High School. She was employed by Fogle Mines until her marriage on March 30, 1940. As a farm wife she spent countless hours taking care of the family, cooking for threshermen, raising chickens, canning her garden-grown foods, and feeding her cats. She is a member of Rockwood’s Trinity Reformed Church, was active in the Black Township Homemakers, formerly served as secretary of the Rockwood Senior Citizens, and then was honored by the Rockwood Area Historical and Genealogical Society. She enjoyed taking numerous bus trips sight-seeing around the country, and attending family gatherings. Recently, she liked watching classic television shows and the birds that frequented her feeders. She left a legacy of joy, kind deeds, and an enduring love for her Savior. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Rockwood. A service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Trinity Reformed Church, pastor Joe Penick officiating. Interment at Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.
