Marquis N. Brubaker, 90, of French Creek Road, Everett

Marquis N. Brubaker, 90, of French Creek Road, Everett, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at UPMC Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Dec. 30, 1922 in Cross Keys; a son of the late Earl D. and Elizabeth (Wood) Brubaker. He was twice married, first to Alice Friedel and then later married Nedra Carpenter of Everett. She survives along with following family, three children, Lisa Meyers and husband Charlie of Somerset; Natasha Brubaker and Mike Fisher of Breezewood; Thomas Brubaker and Amanda Rohrer, Bedford; four grandchildren: Levi and Dylan Meyers, Gwendolyn Deaver and husband Jay, and Isabelle Fisher; a nephew who was raised as a brother, Dr. Lewis Patterson and wife Janice; also several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Fritz and John Brubaker; four sisters and two brothers: Ann Shaffer, Marcella Patterson, Lona Mason, Betty Austin, DeWain Brubaker and Logan Brubaker. Dr. Brubaker was a self-employed veterinarian in the Bedford area for many years. He was a graduate of McKeesport High School, attended the University of Pittsburgh as an undergraduate and received his VDM from the University of Pennsylvania in 1953. He was an avid reader with an insatiable curiosity. He was artist and enjoyed poetry, traveling, gardening and woodworking. He was a daredevil with a wonderful sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Mountain Chapel Brethren in Christ Church, Breezewood with Pastor Ronald Hott officiating.
