Thomas R. Shaulis, 71, of Markleton

Thomas R. Shaulis, 71, Markleton, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 in the Meadowview Nursing Home, Berlin. He was born July 21, 1944 in Somerset County, a son of the late Harvey and Ella Shaulis. Mr. Shaulis was formerly employed as a custodian in the Somerset Area Vo-Tech School. He had also previously worked at Hidden Valley Resort and Babcock Lumber Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War and he was a member of the Pike Run Church of the Brethren near Bakersville. He is survived by a son, Robert Shaulis and his wife Ann of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including his caregivers, nephew Ken Ross and his wife Betty of Markleton. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife Patricia Seese Shaulis in 2009; and his siblings: Bessie Ross, Viola Backman, Linda Sink, Ada Dunmeyer, Walter Shaulis, Gertrude Nickelson and Ethel Darby. Friends will be received in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., corner of Municipal Building Road and Route 711, Melcroft, on Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the hour of service.
