Harvey E. Hoffman, 97, Berlin (Macdonaldton), died Sept. 16, 2012 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born May 15, 1915 in Berlin, a son of Henry and Ida (Rile) Hoffman. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Isabelle Egmore; brothers: Robert, James, Paul and Harry Hoffman; and sisters, Mary, Mildred and Luella. Survived by children: Paul, married to the former Judith Leager, Ellicott City, Md.; Darlene Smith and husband Gary, Berlin; Linda Carolus and husband Ken, Rockwood; Roxann McKenzie, Summerville, S.C.; and Judy Kennedy and husband Larry, Ocala, Fla.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WW II and a dragline operator for Croner Coal. Member of Berlin Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, life member of VFW Post 7295, Berlin and the Last Man's Club where he was the oldest living member. He enjoyed working on his vehicles. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin , where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Sherman H. Berkey officiating.
