Edward R.J. Hoffman, age 79, of Somerset, died Nov. 1, 2012 at Somerset Hospice House, Somerset. Born April 18, 1933 in Somerset, the son of Carrie Grace Hoffman. Preceded in death by mother; wife, the former Barbara Jean Ritson, who died Aug. 25, 2000; son, Ricky J. Hoffman; and step-father, Reinhold Malas. Survived by children: Thomas Hoffman of Masontown; Michael Hoffman of Fla.; James Hoffman of Masontown; William Nist and wife Debra of Somerset; Joseph Nist and wife Maryann of Rockwood, Kenneth Nist and companion Denise Martin of Berlin; Lisa Hillegass and husband Michael of Manns Choice; Mark Edward Nist and wife Lori of Somerset; Dean Nist and wife Lori Ann of Somerset; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Edward is a graduate of Somerset High School. He worked until his retirement with 50 years of service working as a Union Marble and Stone Mason/Superintendent with an extensive background working on many historic landmarks. He was also a member of FOE Aerie 1801, American Legion Post 181, Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Local #1 D.C., Virginia and Maryland. He was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and one hour prior to the service at the church which will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Faith Lutheran Church, Somerset, with the Rev.
