Ellen L. Shaulis, 91, Ben Avon, formerly of Friedens, died Oct. 31, 2012 at UPMC Passavant, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 21, 1920 in Quemahoning Township, the daughter of John and Lizzy (Manges) Blough. Preceded in death by parents; husband Warren J.; brother Noah Blough; and sisters Verda Hause, Helen Benson, and Julia Mosley. Survived by her son Richard and wife Denise, Ben Avon; grandchildren: Nathan Shaulis and Samantha Laffey, Jon Shaulis and wife Jamie, Alana Elstner and husband Justin, and Brianne Shaulis and husband Michael Kristufek; great-granddaughter Abigail Rose Shaulis; and sisters, Mildred Fyock, Windber, and Sarah Heinrich, Stoystown. She was a 1938 graduate of Stoystown High School and was retired from Somerset State Hospital. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Walter L. Startzel officiating.
