William M. "Bill" Murray, 79, of Meyersdale

William M. "Bill" Murray, 79, of Meyersdale, passed away to meet his Lord on Wednesday Nov. 21, 2012. Born Oct. 16, 1933, in St. Paul, he was the son of the late James and Ethel (Harding) Murray. He was also preceded in death two brothers, Ted and John Murray; five sisters, Jennie Hinebaugh, Clara Schultz, Anna Mary Schultz, Elizabeth DePhillips and Pauline Werner. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joanne (Beal) Murray; a son, Brent Murray, his wife, Christi, and  two granddaughters, Leah and Erin of Mount Holly, N.J.; and a sister, Patricia Donner, of Lehigh Acres, Fla. He was a long-time member of the Meyersdale Grace Brethren Church, where he had served as an usher. Bill was a 40-year member of the Cement Mason's Union 526 of Pittsburgh. In his early years he worked in Cleveland, Ohio, and later owned the Sinclair Service station in Meyersdale. He was a foreman for Chapin and Chapin Construction Co., Norwalk, Ohio, for 26 years and traveled extensively throughout the country for them. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed many hours with his friend Mac Christner at his hunting camp. He loved spending time with his family and was very proud of his granddaughters. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, PA, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the Meyersdale Grace Brethren Church on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Randy Haulk officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Salisbury Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Meyersdale Grace Brethren Church.
