Douglas K. Ashbrook, 33, of Somerset Pike, Boswell, died Dec. 15, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 9, 1979 in Johnstown, the son of Arthur Douglas and Janet (Neri) Ashbrook, Boswell. Preceded in death by grandparents Kelly and Helen Neri and Arthur and Katherine Ashbrook. In addition to his parents, he is survived by wife, the former Monica Pettitt; sister, Helen Ashbrook and brother-in-law, Shawn Leskovich, Jennerstown; father and mother-in-law, Alan and Jennifer (Aust) Pettitt, Jenners; sister-in-law Christina Pettitt, Manchester, Maine; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and beloved dogs Buddy Lee and Jack. A 1997 graduate of North Star High School and SCTC, Somerset. A teacher's aide in the carpentry department at SCTC. A member of the 5th VA Company H Civil War Reenactors, Pennsylvania Trapper's Association and Tangsoodo. A lifelong member of the Jenner Community Sportsmen where he was caretaker, past president and helped raise trout. He was also a Hunter's Education instructor and Trapper's Education instructor and an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. Doug was a childhood cancer survivor. Viewing from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell where a service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Jim Montique presiding.
