Charles M. "Sonny" Heining Jr., 71, of Rockwood, died Dec. 19, 2012, at the In Touch Hospice House. Born March 4, 1941, in Somerset County, he is the son of the late Charles M. Heining Sr. and Laura Cooper Reckner Heining. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Frank, Bruce and Ed Reckner, and sisters Rosie Purbaugh, Hazel May and June Shaffer. Sonny is survived by his sons Charles H. Heining and wife Linda of Somerset and Lee Heining of Rockwood; grandchildren Brooke Black and husband Andrew of Stausburg, Brandi Hooper and husband Milo of York, Mandy Freas of Harrisburg, and Jessica Freas, Curtis Heining, Evan Heining and Corrina Baer, all of Somerset; great-grandchildren Lucias, Noah, and Curtis Jr.; sister Phyllis Emerick of Berlin; brother Donald Reckner of Rochester; ex-wife Ila Heining Stiffey of Somerset; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sonny was a retired truck driver who worked for Cooper & Jarrett and Eazor Express. He was a member of the Casselman United Methodist Church, and loved outdoor activities. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with a service to follow at 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, pastor Tim Resh officiating.
