Ella M. Hittie, 101, Berlin, died Jan. 4, 2012 at the Patriot. Born Aug. 14, 1911 in Brothersvalley Township, daughter of Francis and Mary (Coleman) Maust. Preceded in death by parents; husband George; brothers: Eugene, Donald, Ward and Robert Maust; and sisters: Pauline Blubaugh and Marion Hittie. Survived by son Blaine married to the former Margie Holliday, Berlin; grandchildren: Debra Hittie, Blaine "Chip" Hittie and fiancee Ellie Knopsnyder and Marcie (Michael) Simmons; great-grandchildren: Amy (Lee) Sheets, Alan, Gina and Monica Lyons, Catelyn, Allison and Jacob Hittie, Brandy Simmons and fiancé Mike Shepley, Leah and Alexis Simmons; great-great-grandchildren: Isaac and Eliza Sheets, and Gannon Shepley. Sister of: Dwight Maust, Ruth Menear and Evelyn Ringler, all of Berlin; and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, Valley Grange, and Berlin Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies at the church. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. Dr. John W. Harmon officiating.
