Therold R. Furman, 87, Coudersport, died Jan. 8, 2013, at home. Born Sept. 10, 1925, in Coudersport to Orma R. and Grace Furman. Survived by wife Marjorie Hackett; daugther Jeanne C. Squire (Frank) of Albion; son Therold Todd Furman, Brookville; sisters Lorraine Defries (Jeddie), Ijamsville, Md., and Barbara Groff, Finksburg, Md.; grandchildren Brian Kimmel, Ginger Bish and April Furman; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; one infant daughter, Rhonda Lee Furman; one sister, Donna Bess; and one great-grandson, Dominic Bish. Furman was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. In his early years he worked with his family on their dairy farm, and later for Gallant Potato Farms and as an inspector for Haxton Foods (Blue Boy Products). For 31 years he worked as a technician for USDA Soil Conservation. A service will be held at a later date.
