Philip J. Speicher, 76, of Club Road, Schellsburg

Philip J. Speicher, 76, of Club Road, Schellsburg, died at 6:40 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Mr. Speicher was born in Somerset County on Monday, Nov. 2, 1936, the son of the late Lawrence and Zita (Martin) Speicher. He is survived by sisters: Theresa Howery, Oxford; JoAnn Darbyshire, Venice, Fla.; Cecelia Harrison, Hadley, N.Y.; Dorothy, wife of  Ronald Costello, Honolulu, Hawaii; and Susan, wife of Franklin "Ted" Doepel, Lorton, Va. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Speicher was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Philip was a carpenter and a farmer. Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg. A vigil for the deceased will be held on Monday at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held  at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, with Father George Jakopac celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Johns Cemetery, New Baltimore. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
