Tyler P. Beachy, 19, of Friedens, passed on Feb. 12, 2013. Born Oct. 22, 1993 in Somerset, he is the son of Owen and Lou Ann (Schilling-Shumaker) Beachy of Friedens. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Jacqueline Zerfoss and Herman Schilling; and Jane and Herbert Shumaker. Tyler is survived by his parents; brother Connor Beachy of Friedens; paternal grandparents Roger and Nancy Beachy of Fort Hill; aunts and uncles Mary Etta "Auntie M" Shumaker, Tammy "Aunt T" Manges, Georgia Parsons and husband Nate, Kerry and Sun Schilling, Steve and Barb Gnagey, Randy and Lugene Popernack, Sue Brubaker, Sam Beachy, and Wade and Deborah Beachy; first cousins Keith and Kevin, Jeremy, Kristen, Lisa, Dustin, Nikki, Ashley, Andrew and Caitlyn, Kendra, and Kira; and many extended family members. Tyler was a 2012 graduate of Somerset Area High School where he was in the gifted student program and was an honors student as well as a member of the National Honor Society. He was also on the Speech Forensics Team, participated in the senior class play, and was on the Tech Crew. He was attending Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fla., majoring in recording arts to pursue a career as a sound engineer. He was active in sports throughout his life, participating in the Somerset baseball program for many years and also the North Star American Legion baseball team. He played basketball and football in school up through the junior high level, and participated in AYSO Soccer as a youth. He also was a member of the Somerset high school golf team. He was a member of the Cub Scouts. Tyler attended Somerset Christian Missionary Alliance Church where he played in the church band. He also attended the Neighborhood Alliance Church in Florida while at college. He volunteered for Teen Quest and was interested in pursuing youth ministry. An avid guitar player, Tyler played in several bands over the years and wrote many songs. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Pastor Ronzil Jarvis officiating.
