Kenneth S. Hoffman, 89, of Jennerstown, went to be with his Lord Feb. 14, 2013. Born May 8, 1923 in Sipesville, he is the son of the late Earl and Binnie (Saylor) Hoffman. He is also preceded in death by his infant brother; sisters Wilma Miller and Frances Shaulis; and brothers Ernest and Harry Hoffman. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 63 years, Velma (Shaulis) Hoffman; children: Donald R. Hoffman and wife Patty of Stoystown; Sharon Shaulis and husband David of Boswell; and Randy Hoffman and wife Sherry of Boswell; grandchildren: Dennis Hoffman (Gina), Dawn Marie Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman (Amanda), Chelsey Stern (Matthew), and Joni Shaulis; and great-grandchildren Deklin, Owen, and Claire Hoffman. Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in W.W.II in the rank of sergeant. He was a longtime employee of Wagner Electric/Motion Control where he was a brake tester. He also owned and operated Hoffman Cut Rate along with Velma for 25 years. He was a former Cub Scout den master, and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church where he was a former Sunday school superintendent and sang in the church choir. He loved flying, NASCAR racing, hunting, bird watching, and his cats. Kenneth was a good husband, father, and grandfather, who loved his Lord. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, with a service to follow at 7 p.m., pastor Dennis Doebler officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. Interment will be private.
