Beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and auntie, Lois McConnell passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012. She is now free of pain and is with her Lord. She was born in Hardin, Mont. Jan. 6, 1950 to Jake and Violet Flegler. She grew up in Hardin and later moved to Billings, ending up in Huntley, Mont., where she graduated. She married Leon McConnell and they were later divorced. She worked for the government in the Social Security Administration most of her life, retiring on June 30, 2012. She made many friends while working there, especially the two Stacies. Thank You! Sadly, when she was going to enjoy retirement, illness struck her. Her son, Mark and his wife, Kim, were there for her. She was extremely proud of her son Mark. They had such a rapport that they could tell what the other was thinking. It was beautiful. She spent some of her last months in Somerset in Mark's home, where he and his wife Kim took special care of her. Lois was later moved to In Touch Hospice where she spent her last days. She also raised a step-grandchild whom she loved dearly. Preceding her in death are an infant son, her father Jake, and a brother, Richard. Lois leaves behind her beloved family: her son, Mark (Kim), and three grandchildren: Connor, Kylie and Kenna; her mother, Violet; three sisters and one brother: Janice (Gary) Koch, Sharon (Steve) Ketterling of Billings, Mont., Mary (Jarold) Petersen of Cedar Park, Texas; brother John (Jill) Flegler of DeSoto, Ks.; four special aunts who supported her with cards and phone calls: Lucille Hankel, Lorraine Nedens, and Selma Becker of Hardin, and Delores Roebling of Shepherd, Mont. Her nieces and nephews that she thought of as her own will miss her greatly. Time spent with Auntie Lois was always the best!!! Lois is also survived by many friends and relatives from Harlem, Mont. She loved them all, that's just the way she was and the way we'll remember her. Her memorial services will be in Billings, Mont. at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 South 36th Street, at a date later this year. Lois will also be part of a service Sept. 16th at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's Presbyterian, for all of those that passed away at In Touch Hospice this past year. Donations may be made to In Touch Hospice, in memory of Lois McConnell, at 1474 N. Center Ave. Somerset, PA 15501. Special thanks to the staff of In Touch Hospice for the exceptional care they took of such a special person. They were like an extended family to her.
