Michael Pastuch, 85, of Boswell, died April 9, 2013 at Cambria Care Center. Born Oct. 13, 1927 in Jenners, the son of John and Catherine (Mucha) Pastuch, both immigrants from the Ukraine. Preceded in death by parents; sisters: Eve Manzullo; Ann Blonde; Marie Cosenza; Katte Cooper and a brother, John. Survived by brother, William of Somerset, Ky., and sister, Helen Brown of Southhold, N.Y. Michael is also survived by his wife, the former Helen Baraniak of Boswell; sons: Michael, married to the former Cynthia Euer of Fairmont, W.Va.; Gerald of Boswell; Dennis, married to the former Jayne Shaffer of Hanover; Joseph, married to the former Wendy Marker of Boswell; daughters: Rosanna Weil of Farmington, N.H.; and Kathleen, wife of Kirk Smith of Confluence. Michael’s pride and joy were his grandchildren: Shawna (Pastuch) White, Christina, Jason, Joshua and Jared Pastuch, Gina, David, Jeremy and Christopher Baily, Stephanie Pastuch-Poteet, Aaron, Jonathan, Miranda and Sheena Pastuch, Alyssa and Tyler Smith. Michael was a U.S. Army paratrooper serving with the 11th Airborne Div. in occupied Japan. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion of Boswell. He worked as a welding supervisor for Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Jenner Rod and Gun Club. Being a baseball fan, he was instrumental in building the first little league field behind his house in Boswell. He loved the Steelers and often went to training camp in Latrobe. He played guitar and was lead singer in a country western band. He loved to sing to his children and grandchildren. Michael loved Polka music and didn’t miss a Polka dance. At Michael’s request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Donations may be made in his honor to the Boswell American Legion. Arrangements by the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City.
