Virginia Charlotte Herring, 91, of Meyersdale, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 18, 2013, after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born July 28, 1921 in Meyersdale, the daughter of Samuel and Isolene (Wiland) Herwig. Preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Marshall Burdock; husband, Clarence "Buzz" Herring; and sister, Vivian "Honey" Woullard. Survived by her daughter, Dottie Grew and husband Paul, Meyersdale; brother, William "Bib" Herwig, Brighton, MI; sister, Norma "Tood" Alvey, Brunswick, Md. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Meyersdale High School and retired in 1954 from Meyersdale Manufacturing Company, where she was an inspector for 15 years. After her retirement, she found great joy as a loving and devoted wife and mother, and was a wonderful homemaker, cook, and she truly lived for her family. Virginia was a lifelong member of Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, where she and Buzz were youth directors and volunteered with the kitchen crew to serve the weekly dinners for the Lion's Club. One of her greatest pleasures was listening to her daughter play the organ in church and she loved to attend the annual Organ and Piano Extravaganza at the Johnstown War Memorial. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Viewing at the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, where a celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Pastor Eric Shaulis officiating.
