Blanche (Hay) Niehenke, 94, a resident of Friendship Ridge for the last five years, formerly of Baden, entered her heavenly home Friday, May 3, 2013. She was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Somerset County, she is the eldest daughter of the late Frank and Amanda Hay. One of 12 children, she only went to the fourth grade. Her education then began helping run the family farm which is still owned and operated by her Hay family. Blanche was married to the late Leroy Niehenke. They had 50 wonderful years together and four children. Their eldest son, baby Timmy, died at 13 months of age and Delbert Sr. joined the heavenly choir in 2004. Blanche is survived by her son, James (Carolyn) Niehenke Sr., a daughter, Sally (Chuck) Kanouff, all of Baden, and Delbert’s wife, Jean Niehenke, Beaver; seven grandchildren: Tamara (David) DeSalle, Ambridge, James (Christine) Niehenke Jr., Baden, Denise (Earl) Lucy, New Brighton, Delbert Niehenke Jr., Beaver Falls, Donna (Dan) Powell, New Brighton, Timothy Kanouff, Baden, and Deborah Niehenke, Beaver. She was also blessed with 11 Great Ones (great-grandchildren): Ashley (Eric Jr.) Vanyo, Steven Lucy, Lindsay and Jacob Niehenke, Travis Niehenke, Tiffany Jones, Timmy Niehenke, Caragan and Connor Kanouff. Also surviving is her dearest sister, Ruth (Charles) Neimiller; sisters-in-law, Ruby Hay and Evelyn Hay; and numerous nieces and nephews. Blanche was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance for 57 years, she and her husband Leroy were founding members of the Conway CMA. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Miller Funeral Home, 933 E. Broadway St., Rockwood, PA 15557, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Joe Penick of the Trinity Reformed Church of Rockwood officiating. Interment will take place in Rockwood Cemetery, where she will join her loving husband and infant son. The family wants to thank Annex 3 of Friendship Ridge, Dr. Nadika and Good Samaritan Hospice for all the love and care they gave their dear mother and grandmother. Their kindness will remain in their hearts forever.
