David Ray Smith, 67, Berlin

David Ray Smith, 67, Berlin, made his journey home to be with his Lord and Savior Sept. 2, 2012 at West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 19, 1945 in Meyersdale, son of the late S. Ray and Betty (Bittner) Smith. Survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Patty Mothersbaugh; children: Erin and wife Kari, Johnstown; and Nicole, Somerset; grandson: Elisha; brothers: Gary (Darlene) Smith and Edwin (Sondra) Smith; and father-in-law Bill Mothersbaugh, all of Berlin. He was a 1963 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, a Vietnam War Army veteran having served as an E-5 Sgt. in the 3rd Armored Division in Germany, and was a retired customer service manager of Fleetwood Folding Trailers. Member of Beachdale Church of the Brethren and the Berlin American Legion and VFW. He was a WW II history buff, enjoyed driving his yellow Corvette and VW Bug, participating in the military color guard, spending time with his family, especially his grandson, and he loved to laugh. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Joe Brown officiating. Interment Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Glencoe.  Graveside military honors provided by the Berlin Veterans Home.
