Helen Marie Leazier, 91, Somerset, formerly of Berlin, died Sept. 2, 2012 at The Patriot. Born March 11, 1921 in Berlin, daughter of Jeremiah and Lillian Landis. Preceded in death by parents, husband Robert George Leazier, brother Ozzie Landis, and sister Lula Shockey. Survived by her children: George Robert, married to the former Barbara Belcourt; Denise Friedline and husband, Kenneth, all of Somerset; and James "Butch," married to the former Cheryl Douglass, Winchester, Va.; grandchildren: Joe, Daniel (Marla), and Timothy Leazier; Richard Friedline and fiancee Dawn Kennell; Christine (Dr. Daniel) Baker; Roger (Missy) Brant; and Jadie (Gary) Predmore; great-grandchildren: Eva and Ethan Baker, Hannah and Jordan Friedline, Stephanie and Adam Emert, and Brandon and Destiny Brant; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-granddaughter; nieces: Grace Svonavec, Ruth Drab and Marie Powell; and nephews, Henry Shockey and Bob Landis. She was retired from the dietary department of Somerset State Hospital and was a Berlin school crossing guard for many years. Member of Roof Garden Christian Church and the Somerset County Democratic Committee for many years. She enjoyed latch-hooking, reading western novels, listening to the Berlin Fife and Drum Corps, talking with people, gardening and yard work, her cat Brady, playing the lottery, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She truly enjoyed her time helping children as a crossing guard. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Roy Worsham officiating. Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F.
