Cecil E. Jackson, 93, of Greenville Road, Meyersdale, passed away at noon on July 17, 2013 at his home. Born Feb. 2, 1920 in Wittenburg, the son of John and Pearl (Martin) Jackson. Preceded in death by his parents; wife of 70 years, the former Evelyn Layman; granddaughter: Justine Jackson; and brothers: James and Lawrence Jackson. Survived by his sons: Robert and wife Joan, Mercersburg, and William and wife Lora, Ellerslie, Md.; grandchildren: Julie O'Neal and husband Wade, Cumberland, Md.; Jonathan Jackson and wife Jennifer, Altoona; Joy Murray and husband David, Fort Campbell, Tenn.; Jade Jackson, Baltimore, Md.; and Joseph Jackson, Ohio; six great-grandchildren: Justin Jackson, Alizabeth, Breanna, Brady and Addison O'Neal, and Grace Murray. Also survived by a brother: John Jackson Jr., Laramie, Wyo. He is a W.W.II U.S. Army veteran, where he was a staff sergeant serving in the 3187 Service Battalion in the European Theater. After his military service, he worked as an auto technician in Cumberland, Frostburg and then at Gnagey Olds, Meyersdale. Following that, he purchased the John Deere dealership from R.D. Speicher and operated it from 1958-1988 with his wife, Evelyn. He was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ and the American Legion Post 112, Meyersdale. After retirement, he and his wife spent the winters in Florida and liked traveling in their Airstream travel trailer throughout most of the United States. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Rev.
