Dr. Laura J. Schrock, 85, of Laughlintown, died early Friday morning, July 19, 2013, in the Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Somerset, a daughter of the late Guy and Ollie Puryear Schrock. Prior to her retirement in 1996 she had been a surgeon at Memorial Medical Center for over 35 years. She was a graduate of the University of Alberta Medical College. Her residency was served at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh and her internship at Memorial Medical Center. She was a member of Beam’s Church in Gray, the Rolling Rock Club and the Cambria County Medical Society. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy and Robert Schrock. She is survived by a sister, Betty (James) Hatcher of Richmond, Va., a brother, Carl (Nancy) Schrock of Pittsburgh, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Private graveside services will be held Saturday at St. Michael’s of the Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating.
