Constance Lou “Connie” Berkebile-Gerwatoski, 81, Somerset, died Aug. 2, 2013, at Somerset Hospital. Born Jan. 2, 1932, in Stoystown, daughter of Harold George and Lucilla Bernice (Specht) Lohr. Preceded in death by parents; first husband Irvin S. Berkebile Jr.; second husband Lawrence J. Gerwatoski; and brother Jerry Lohr. Survived by sons, Scott I. Berkebile, married to the former Susan Kimmel, Coleman Station, and Bradley H. Berkebile, married to the former Joan Crimone, Somerset; grandchildren: Jason Berkebile, Charlotte, N.C., Amanda Shaffer, Somerset, Ashley Berkebile and fiance Joseph Lippert III, Pittsburgh, and Kaitlyn Berkebile, Coleman Station; great-granddaughter Lily Shaffer; and sister Carol Clark and husband Jerry, Ohio. Connie is a graduate of Quemahoning-Stoystown High School. She worked for the Somerset County Commissioners and later was owner/operator of Connie’s Closet until her retirement. She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 138, and Somerset Soroptomist. She enjoyed playing cards with her card club, loved reading and needlepoint. Friends received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church, Friedens, with the Rev.
