Dorothy Parrack Leeson, “Dotty”, 80, 66 Wagon Trail, Black Mountain, N.C. passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2013. A native of Terra Alta, W.Va., Mrs. Leeson was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Deets Parrack Sr. and Eleanor Benson Parrack. Dorothy grew up in Terra Alta where her parents owned and operated Parrack’s Store. She went on to attend West Virginia University where she was an active member of Alpha Phi and completed a degree in elementary education. While at WVU, Dorothy met her husband, John. They fell in love at first sight and enjoyed a lifetime of happiness together. Dotty and John would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this August. Dotty was active in the Highland Farms Community where she resided with John. She sang in the choral group and enjoyed playing the piano for special events. An avid music lover, Dotty enjoyed attending concerts and playing duets on the piano with her sister, Lou. She was an accomplished quilter and decorated her home with her lovely creations. Dotty and John shared a love of nature and travel, visiting state parks and wildlife areas throughout the United States. Dotty is survived by her husband, John; her sister, Luthera Parrack Casteel (William L.), Rockwood; her brother, Luther Deets Parrack Jr. (Pauline), Oakland, Md.; her son, Eric M. Leeson (Michelle), Cincinnati, Ohio; daughters Marcia A. Rutledge (Timothy), St. Louis, Mo., and Linda L. Herrell (Duke), Nashville Tenn. She is also survived by her dearly loved grandchildren: Evan, Garrett, Austin, Emily, Sarah, Matthew, Ethan and Eleanor. Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. We will all miss her warm smile, her gentle nature, her positive spirit and her endless loving support. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Aug. 18 at the First Presbyterian Church, 106 State St., Terra Alta, W.Va. 26764. Graveside service to follow.
