Zachary K. Bowser, 17, Berlin, died March 31, 2013, at home. Born July 30, 1995, in Somerset, son of Tomack and Becky Ann (Jones) Bowser. Preceded in death by paternal grandfather Elwood Bowser. Survived by his parents; brother: Jacob, at home; maternal grandparents: Thomas and Juanita Webb, and paternal grandmother: Joyce Bowser, all of Berlin; aunts and uncles: Billy and Crystal Bowser, Zina and James Lyons, Rhonda and Elwood Bowser, Patricia Jones and Paul Prosser; cousins: Tyler, Owen, Merecedes and Savanna Bowser, Paul and Christopher  Prosser, Stephanie Knopsnyder, Regina Benning, Katie Lyons and Shelby Friedline. He enjoyed watching movies and watching his brother playing video games. He loved going to school, smiling and holding everyone’s hand. Dale G. Fogle, 76, Garrett, died March 30, 2013, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.  Born Sept. 23, 1936, in Garrett, son of Charles and Ada (Schrock) Fogle. Preceded in death by parents, sister Helen Woullard, brother-in-law William Zimmerman and nephews John Jr. and Joseph Woullard. Survived by brother: Jack Fogle and wife Mary Jane, Garrett; sister: Phyllis Zimmerman, Corriganville, Md.; brother-in-law: John Woullard Sr., Garrett; nephews: Douglas, Jeffrey, and David Woullard and Richard Zimmerman; nieces: Pamela Owen and Beverly Ann Bennett. He was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and was a retired mold caster for the Somerset Foundry. Member of Beachdale Church of the Brethren, where he was a choir member and was a former member of the Beachdale Cemetery Association, and member of Shopman’s Local 527. He enjoyed visiting people and working on his farm. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Tim Vaughn officiating. Roland Duane (Sike) Gomer, 61, Meyersdale, died April 4, 2013 at Martinsburg VA Hospital. Born in Meyersdale, March 24, 1952 to the late George T. and Catherine (Geiger) Gomer. Preceded in death by his brother, George "Bud" Gomer. Survived by his sons: Roland "Duane" Gomer Jr. and his wife Crista of Bedford; Jordon Baker of Mt. Savage; daughters: Tina Doman and her husband Matthew of LaVale, Md.; Nanette Johnson and her husband Doug of Wellersburg; Monica Wilson and her finance Steve Troutman of Meyersdale; sisters: Audrey (Les) Beeman of Wellersburg; Bonita Lepley of Wellersburg; and Zona (Sonny) Murphy of Ohio; many nieces  and nephews; a very dear and special friend Bev Resh. Roland was a United States Marine. Sike was known by many as Mountain-man, Big Stick, and Big Daddy. He loved to ride his Harley and loved his Ford Truck. Friends will be received on Sunday, April 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home in Meyersdale. Funeral Service will be held on Monday April 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the  M. Richard Allen Saylor, 54 of Hooversville died April 4, 2013 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born Feb. 13, 1959 in Johnstown, son of the late Eugene and Jeanne (Knapp) Saylor. Survived by his wife, the former Donna DiValentone; children: Richard, Kirstyn, and Hannah; granddaughter Lay'la; brothers: James, Johnstown; Michael (Trudy), Sipesville; and Patrick (Jackie), Windber; special great-niece: Skye Bocianowski; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and family. Richard was a 1977 graduate of Richland High School, and a former retail associate for several department stores. Member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Johnstown. He was a great Pittsburgh sports fan. Betty Irene Hoggard, 80, Friedens died April 5, 2013, at Siemon’s Lakeview Manor. Born Nov. 28, 1932, in Kimmelton, daughter of William James Sr. and Violet (Hipple) Peterman. Preceded in death by parents; husband Harold Dean “Hoggie”; and daughter Cynthia Keim. Survived by son Harold Dean II, married to the former Marlania Derberry, Friedens; grandsons, Skyler Keim and Albert Marody IV; granddaughter: Dessaray Marody; great-granddaughters, Kiya and Nae Nae; brother William Peterman Jr., Friedens; sisters, Dorothy Boyer, Stoystown, and Judith Reckner and husband Glenn, Hollsopple; and close friend Betty Carpenter, Friedens. Graduate of Forbes High School. Former employee of Foodland, A & P and Giant Eagle Markets, all in Somerset. Member of Mostoller United Methodist Church, Somerset O.E.S. Lodge and Stoystown Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler, motorcyclist and loved camping. Barbara Meyers, 86, Meyersdale, went home to be with her Lord on April 5, 2013. She was born June 6, 1926, to the late Jacob and Edna (Haer) Christner. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn Meyers. Also preceded in death by brothers: Harold, Tom and Sprawls; sister Hazel Hoover. Survived by son Ronald and his wife, Sarah, Houston, Texas, daughter Debbie and her husband, Donald Elfvin, Meyersdale; grandchildren: Amy (Meyers) and her husband, Tony Falvo, Ronald Meyers, Michael Meyers and his wife, Jen; great-grandchildren, Abriana and Dominic Falvo; sisters: Miriam Stephens, Arlene Houston, Nancy Stoner and husband Don, and Mary Hanks and husband Barry; brother Mack Christner and wife Bernice. She was beloved by numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and constant companion “Rocky.” Barbara was retired from the Meyersdale Shirt Factory, where she worked for many years. She and Glenn loved to go on bus trips and devoted themselves to caring for their family. She was a member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, where she loved to work and serve her church family and community. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the M. Brad Telford Whipperman, 58, of Bakersville, passed on April 6, 2013 at Somerset Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1954 in Somerset, he is the son of Telford and Peggy (Bender) Whipperman of Somerset. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Alberta Bender and paternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Whipperman. Brad is survived by his parents; wife Charlene (Collins) Whipperman of Bakersville; step-daughter Amanda Cummings and husband Dennis of Rockwood; grandchildren: Chelsie, Aaron and Bella Cummings; sister, Wendy Floyd and husband Bill of Johnstown; brother, Theodore Fisher II and wife Karen of Detroit, Mich.; and nieces, Melanie Nally and Megan and Erica Floyd. Brad loved to ride his Harley every chance he got, and will be missed by his beloved dogs Rocky and Jed. There will be no viewing or visitation at Brad's request. Lois Marie Critchfield, 93, of Somerset passed away peacefully April 6, 2013 at Somerset Hospice House. Born Nov. 10, 1919 in Conyngham, to Roy H. and Katherine (Phillips) Yost. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald A. Critchfield; and older brother, Robert Yost. She is survived by a younger brother, William of Conyngham; her three children: Jon Allen, married to Mary (Mulcahy); Roy Eric, married to Kathy (Hunter); and Sarah "Sally" Katherine, married to Randall "Pete" Urban; grandchildren: Jon Stephen Critchfield, Pittsburgh; Allison S. (Urban) married to Ben Walter, Somerset; Angela P. (Urban) married to Michael Drenning, State College; Brian E. Critchfield, married to Selena (Bortz), Shanksville; and Laura S. Critchfield, Harrisburg; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois graduated from West Hazelton High School and attended Susquehanna University where she majored in organ performance. At Susquehanna, she served as the chapel organist and sang in the Motet Choir. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota international music sorority. After college she completed post-graduate studies in organ performance at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. under the supervision of Dr. Charles M. Courboin, noted Belgian organist. During World War II, Lois taught school at Mountain Top near Wilkes Barre. In 1945 she married Donald and moved to Somerset where she taught elementary school and junior high music for many years. Lois was the organist and choir director at many local churches, including her home church, Trinity Lutheran. She taught piano to generations of local children. Lois was active in the Somerset Music Club and Garden Club. She was a member of the Humane Society of Somerset County and the Trinity Chapter #138 of the Order of The Eastern Star. She loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, the Rev. Linda McElroy Thomas officiating. Interment at Somerset County Memorial Park. Attorney Robert Wayne Critchfield, 93, of Somerset passed away April 5, 2013 at The Patriot. Born Jan. 24, 1920 in Somerset to James Albert and Sue Ellen (Pyle) Critchfield. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Donald A. Critchfield. He is survived by his younger brother James A. Critchfield Jr., Somerset; nephews: Jon A. Critchfield; R. Eric Critchfield, both of Somerset; and Richard N. Critchfield of Bakersville; nieces: Sarah "Sally" K. Urban, Somerset; Elizabeth Walther, and Anne Hart, both of Salt Lake City, Utah. Robert was a 1937 graduate of Somerset High School. He attended Susquehanna University and the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated cum laude in 1942. After graduation, he immediately entered the U.S. Army and served with distinction in the European Theatre during W.W.II as an anti-aircraft artillery officer; rising to the rank of Captain. Following W.W.II, he attended law school at Harvard and the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1949 after serving preceptorships with the late Senator Charles H. Ealy and former District Attorney Archibald M. Matthews. In 1950, he established a law office on East Union Street. He later moved his practice to West Main Street where he shared offices with the late Simon K. Uhl. In 2000 he was recognized by the Pennsylvania Bar Association for 50 years of active practice. During his career he handled many cases from estates to divorces and wills. He is perhaps best known for co-founding the Coal Operator's Casualty Co. in 1957 along with the late Col. W.J. Stitler and his brother Attorney James A. Critchfield Jr. The company, later known as Rockwood Insurance Co., specialized in workman's compensation insurance. He also served as the solicitor for sheriffs Norman Walker and Donald Hay for 15 years. Until his passing, Robert was the oldest living member of the Somerset County Bar Association. Robert loved and appreciated classical music. He played the flute and piccolo in the Somerset Band which won national recognition at the 1936 band competition in Evanston, Ill. He studied piano and played daily throughout his life. Robert was a life long member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren where he taught adult Sunday school. Robert was a member of Somerset Lodge #358 F&AM for over 70 years. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Revs. Paul Liepelt and Roger Forry officiating. Interment will be at the Somerset County Memorial Park. Dolly E. Fike, 90, of Addison, died Monday, April 8, 2013, in Henry Clay Villa, Markleysburg. She was born Jan. 14, 1923 in Friendsville, Md., a daughter of Troy and Cory DeWitt. Her parents, sister, Marie Alexander and brothers, Don and Otis DeWitt preceded her in death.
