Matilda J. (Summy) Yoder, 98, of Grantsville, Md., died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the home of her son Jacob after a period of declining health. She was born Sept. 24, 1914, at Honeyville, Ind., daughter of the late Jacob and Amanda (Yoder) Summy. She was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Menno J. Yoder; a son, Raymon M. Yoder; and brothers, Eli J. and John J. Summy. Survived by sons: Herman M. and Mary H. (Kinsinger) Yoder, of Vevay, Ind. and Jacob M. and Anna H. (Kinsinger) Yoder, of Grantsville, Md.; a sister, Mary J. (Summy) Yoder; sister-in-law, Amanda Summy and brother-in-law, Milton J. Yoder. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. EST Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Niverton Old Order Amish Church with Bishop Noah B. Yoder officiating. Dolly Adaline Miller, 77, of Friedens, went home to God on April 28, 2013 at Somerset Hospital, Somerset. Born Nov. 5, 1935 in Somerset, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Lohr) Stiffey. Preceded in death by parents and aunt, Rose M. Jarvis. Sadly missed by husband, Emmet Paul Miller, to whom she was married 56 years; children: Ronald P. Miller and wife, Shirley, of Shanksville; Darlene June and husband Andrew of Acosta; Brenda Lea Saylor of Bedford; Lewis Eugene Miller of Friedens; grandchildren: Amanda Rich, Ronald P. Miller Jr., Heather Saylor and Amy Palm; great-granddaughter Abigail; also survived by several brothers and sisters. James A. Foley, 83, Somerset, passed on April 28, 2013. Born April 4, 1930, in Meyersdale, he is the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Mervine) Foley. He is also preceded in death by his sister Mary Elizabeth Judy. James is survived by his daughters Patricia Foley of Rockwood, Nancy Foley of Friedens, and Mary Foley of Pittsburgh; and his former wife Helen Foley of Friedens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a retired employee of the B&O/CSX Railroad with over 40 years of service. He was a member of the Somerset VFW Post 554 and the Somerset FOE Aerie 1801. There will be no visitation or service at James’ request. Verna Ellen "Dolly" (Troutman) Carpenter, 88, Hyndman, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Golden Living, Meyersdale. Born March 4, 1925, in Wellersbug; she was a daughter of the late Russell O. and Nora L. (Hosselrode) Troutman. She was also preceded in death by her husband Reuel S. Carpenter Nov. 3, 1994; a brother, Vernon O. Troutman, Dec. 17, 1945, nephew Vance H. Troutman Dec. 14, 2000.  Verna was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Harmony United Methodist Church, Wellersburg, and also attended Bible Gospel Church. She was a Brownie leader for a few years, charter member of the Senior Citizens and a member of RSVP. Survived by three brothers, Leroy R. Troutman and wife Charlotte (Hays) of Hyndman, Harvey A. Troutman and wife Mary (Everline) of Iowa Park, Texas, and Ray L. Troutman and wife Jo Ellen (Hartman) of Wellersburg; many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. James R. Hay, 73, Jennerstown, died peacefully April 29, 2013, at Palliative Care Unit, Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, after a five-year struggle with multiple health issues. Born July 29, 1939, in Johnstown, son of Arnold G. Sr. and Marguerite (Holder) Hay. Preceded in death by parents; son, Joel Bradley Hay, in 1964; sister, Joan Avery; and mother- and father-in-law, Catharine (Beam) Trible-Georg and Lewis H. Trible. Dated seven years prior to 49 years of marriage to the former Janet Lee Trible, who survives along with brothers, Arnold G. Jr., Pittsburgh; and Edward A., Jennerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1957 graduate of the former JBJ High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Past carpet and drapery buyer for the former Penn Traffic Co., construction worker for the former Ben Stern Construction and supply buyer for Door & Column Co., Somerset. Retired corrections officer chief at Somerset County Jail. Member of Greater Johnstown Lodge 358 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory and Altoona Jaffa Shrine. Also a member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was past president of Jenner Area Sewer Authority for 10 years. Jim loved his wife and home dearly, and also enjoyed working on his car and keeping busy in his basement. Mabel Gertrude Schmoyer, 101, of East Norriton, formerly of Somerset, died April 28, 2013 at her home. Born Feb. 27, 1912 in Fayette County, daughter of Frank Jacobs Sr. and Bessie (Hall). Preceded in death by parents, husband Elmer Schmoyer who died Aug. 23, 1981, infant son Frederick Philip Schmoyer, brother Frank Jacobs Jr. and sister Irene Nicklow. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Jean Hiltner and husband Sam of Norristown, Richard Staley and wife Ruth of Magnolia, TX. Mabel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and their Sunshine Group, Somerset Garden Club, State Police Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 138, and she had volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Miller and Viola Roseburg Miller Williams of Somerset. Janice loved to garden and work in her flower baskets. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Jon A. Schrock; her son, Jason F. (Darlene) Schrock of Belle Vernon; two granddaughters, Danielle and Courtney Schrock; and a sister, Dolores (Buck) Pibroski ofAberdeen, Md. Frances J. Frazier, 65, of Berlin went to be with the Lord May 3, 2013 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House with family and friends by her side. Born Aug. 13, 1947 in Stonycreek Township, the daughter of Merle and Elnora (Deeter) Snyder. Preceded in death by parents; son Cory; brothers Harold, Earl and Robert Snyder. Survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry D. Frazier; son, Eric D. married to the former Lesa McDaniel, Berlin; daughter, Tammie married to Rick Lynch, Berlin; grandchildren: Gina, Stephanie, Donald and Rickelle, Ethan and Lindsay; sisters: Glenda married to Donald Uithoven, El Cajon, Calif.; Lois Cosner, Frederick, Md.; Mary Lou married to Lionel Berkebile, Windber; and Martha married to Merle Flick, Friedens; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1966 graduate of Shanksville Stonycreek High School and 1968 graduate of New Castle Business College. She worked for 42 years as an accountant. She attended Berlin Alliance Church and volunteered at the clothing pantry in Shanksville. She was an avid sewer with Sewing Sisters sewing group. Willard S. Simpson, 89, of Somerset died May 3, 2013 at In Touch Hospice House. Born May 11,1923, in Johnstown, he is the son of the late Stephen and Rose (Ritter) Simpson. Also preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Yoder Simpson to whom he was married over 50 years, and a sister Wilma Jean Simpson. Survived by children: Margie Heaslip and husband Richard of Mount Pleasant; Vicki Lauver and husband Jay of Williamsport, Md.; and Stephen Simpson and wife Tracey of Somerset; also six grandchildren and two great-grandsons; and special friend, Alverta Luce of Somerset. Willard was a 1940 graduate of Somerset High School, veteran of the US army W.W.II, 99th Infantry Division Association member, fought at the Battle of the Bulge where he received three bronze stars, Ramagen, Rhineland and Ruhr Pocket. He was employed by the B & 0 Railroad and Chessie System for 42 years. Lifetime member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way employees. Member of the Somerset County Wills Grange #39. Blanche (Hay) Niehenke, 94, a resident of Friendship Ridge for the last five years, formerly of Baden, entered her heavenly home Friday, May 3, 2013. She was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Somerset County, she is the eldest daughter of the late Frank and Amanda Hay. One of 12 children, she only went to the fourth grade. Her education then began helping run the family farm which is still owned and operated by her Hay family. Blanche was married to the late Leroy Niehenke. They had 50 wonderful years together and four children. Their eldest son, baby Timmy, died at 13 months of age and Delbert Sr. joined the heavenly choir in 2004. Blanche is survived by her son, James (Carolyn) Niehenke Sr., a daughter, Sally (Chuck) Kanouff, all of Baden, and Delbert’s wife, Jean Niehenke, Beaver; seven grandchildren: Tamara (David) DeSalle, Ambridge, James (Christine) Niehenke Jr., Baden, Denise (Earl) Lucy, New Brighton, Delbert Niehenke Jr., Beaver Falls, Donna (Dan) Powell, New Brighton, Timothy Kanouff, Baden, and Deborah Niehenke, Beaver. She was also blessed with 11 Great Ones (great-grandchildren): Ashley (Eric Jr.) Vanyo, Steven Lucy, Lindsay and Jacob Niehenke, Travis Niehenke, Tiffany Jones, Timmy Niehenke, Caragan and Connor Kanouff. Also surviving is her dearest sister, Ruth (Charles) Neimiller; sisters-in-law, Ruby Hay and Evelyn Hay; and numerous nieces and nephews. Blanche was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance for 57 years, she and her husband Leroy were founding members of the Conway CMA. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Miller Funeral Home, 933 E. Broadway St., Rockwood, PA 15557, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Joe Penick of the Trinity Reformed Church of Rockwood officiating. Interment will take place in Rockwood Cemetery, where she will join her loving husband and infant son. The family wants to thank Annex 3 of Friendship Ridge, Dr. Nadika and Good Samaritan Hospice for all the love and care they gave their dear mother and grandmother. Their kindness will remain in their hearts forever.

Born April 24, 1970, in Meyersdale, he is the son of the late Bernard Lee and Amanda Shirleen (Wilt) Bittinger. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry DeWayne Wilt. James was a construction worker and mechanic and was a member of the Moose Lodge, Meyersdale. He is survived by his wife, Marie Diane (Pritts) Bittinger; two daughters, Kayla Livengood and husband Joshua, Salisbury, and Jessica Bittinger, Lancaster; three stepdaughters: Pearl Sanner and husband Elmer, Friedens, Wendy Failinger and husband John, and Kimberly Pensyl, all of Meyersdale; one stepson, Cledith “Tee” Polson and wife Holly, Flintstone, Md.; one brother, Joseph Bittinger, Woodstock, Va.; three sisters: Debra Failinger and Susan Bittinger, both of Meyersdale, and Bernadine Frederick, Grantsville, Md.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
