Shirley F. (Spory) Thomas, 79, of Jenner Township, went home to be with her Lord surrounded by family and canine companion on Sept. 14, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Shirley. Born Aug. 11, 1933, in Jenner Township, daughter of Harvey and Hattie (Berkey) Spory. Preceded in death by parents; son, James Roy Thomas, June 10, 1977; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. David E. Thomas; daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Stevanus) Spory; sisters, Lenora "Sis" Lang, Maryellen Kallman and Alma Taylor; and brothers, Ernest "Bud," Leonard and Roy. Survived by husband of 61 years, William R.; children: Dale "Butch" Spory, Jerome; Walter R. "Punch" Thomas, married to Melissa Hanson, Somerset; Shirley Marie (Thomas), married to Thomas Paruch, Rising Sun, Md.; Gloria (Thomas) Carnill, Rockford, Ill.; and Kenneth Thomas, Elkton, Md.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Shirley was very proud of having a five generation family. Member of Jenner Township Baptist Church. Christine Ann Vought, 51 of Garrett, died Sept. 14, 2012 in Ocean City, Md. Born June 23, 1961 in McKeesport, a daughter of Mary Ann (Williamson) Eger, of McKeesport, and the late Edward Eger. Also preceded in death by her brother Eddie Eger. Survived by her mother; her husband, Kevin Vought; sister Cindi, wife of Jeff Brady, Weirton, W.Va. Also survived by brother-in-law Robert Vought; niece Sonya, wife of Jeremy Johnson, and their children Paige and Nathan; and nephews, Joshua Vought and Kaleb Vought. Harvey E. Hoffman, 97, Berlin (Macdonaldton), died Sept. 16, 2012 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born May 15, 1915 in Berlin, a son of Henry and Ida (Rile) Hoffman. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Isabelle Egmore; brothers: Robert, James, Paul and Harry Hoffman; and sisters, Mary, Mildred and Luella. Survived by children: Paul, married to the former Judith Leager, Ellicott City, Md.; Darlene Smith and husband Gary, Berlin; Linda Carolus and husband Ken, Rockwood; Roxann McKenzie, Summerville, S.C.; and Judy Kennedy and husband Larry, Ocala, Fla.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WW II and a dragline operator for Croner Coal. Member of Berlin Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, life member of VFW Post 7295, Berlin and the Last Man's Club where he was the oldest living member. He enjoyed working on his vehicles. Pauline V. Howarth, 89, of Somerset, passed on Sept. 20, 2012 at Somerset Hospital. Born Jan. 24, 1923 in Edie, she is the daughter of the late William and Sadie (Sarver) Barnhart. She is also preceded in death by her husband James Howarth in 1992, and sisters Alice Shaulis and Juanita Yohe. Pauline is survived by her daughters Connie Bowman and husband Richard of Meyersdale, and Linda Dangel of Somerset; grandsons, Justin and Jeremy Dangel of Somerset; and longtime friend Jeanetta Bowman of Somerset. She was a retired cook in the Somerset Area School District and was a member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren. There will be no visitation and a private graveside service at Somerset County Memorial Park at Pauline's request. Also preceded  in death by sisters, Viola and Laura. Survived by sons, Kenneth St. Clair and friend, and Wayne St. Clair, both of Somerset; stepchildren: Janna Dove of Scottdale; Pamela Smithbower of N.C.; Warren Lee Cochran of Somerset; and Lyndon Cochran of Ga.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Joann Shaw of Somerset. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milo James Kimmel, who died Nov. 7, 1989, daughter, Cathy Ann Fochtman and sister Twila. Survived by children: Carey Kimmel, married to the former Marcia Foy of Friedens; Jack Kimmel of Somerset; Nancy Landis and husband Kenneth of Berlin; Sally McCrory and husband Victor of Somerset; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Annabelle Neri of Gray; Ruby Jones of New Jersey; and Robert Montgomery and wife Gwen of Gray. Virginia is a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School. She was a member of Mt. Laurel United Church of Christ. She helped on the family farm, enjoyed putting puzzles together and going to dinner with her sisters. Born Jan. 18, 1933 in Somerset, the son of Salvador Baptist Sargent Sr. and Nettie Myrtle (Brown) Sargent. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Mary W. Warr, who died March 31, 1994; brothers James B. and Frank B. Sargent; sisters, Louise Felton; Felesene Durst and Helen L. "Dolly" Hoyle. He is survived by sons, Salvadore B. "Buddy" Sargent Jr. and Randy C. Sargent; sisters and brother: Lorraine Greennagel and husband Melvin of Woodstock, Va.; O'Leva Shaulis and husband Ernest of Somerset; Mary Ann Moul and husband Robert of Fredricksburg, Va.; Lester B. Mary M. Mishler, 84, of Golden Living Center, Meyersdale, went home with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2012. Born Nov. 30, 1927 in Meyersdale, the daughter of the late Solomon G. and Mary Ellen (Johnson) Brant. On July 18, 2011, her husband Paul passed away, becoming the first time in 65 years of marriage that they were separated. She is also preceded in death by her sisters: Grace Murray, Olive "Dolly" Moore and Mae Baker; and brother, Roy Brant. Survived by sons: Dave and wife Patty and Rick and wife Linda, both of Meyersdale; daughter, Sally Paparella and husband Gene, Somerset; grandchildren: Lisa Woolley, Kristie Shelton, Aimee Vitteck, David Mishler, Lindsey Martin, and Melissa Yommer; great-grandchildren: Justin Durst, Bethany and Reece Woolley, Andrew Murphy, Alena Vitteck, and Addison Claycomb; sisters: Mildred Mishler, Akron, Ohio and Betty Deitz, Somerset; brothers: James and John Brant, both of Springs; numerous nieces and nephews and her furry shadow "Molly." Ferre; children: Mark, married to former Tina Speicher, Davidsville; and Lisa, married to Bob Moranduzzo, Stoystown; grandchildren: Andrew Burkey, Johnstown; William Burkey, married to former Rachael Poole, Indianapolis, Ind.; Jessica Burkey, Davidsville; and Adam and Laura Moranduzzo, Stoystown; great-grandson Ulrich Burkey; sisters: Sandy Stultz, Hollsopple and Linda, married to Rick Rager, Hollsopple; and numerous nieces and nephews. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he served with the 72nd Combat Engineering. A retired mine foreman for North American Coal Company, Seward. He enjoyed hunting and reading and was a history buff, but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. William Clair Quinette was born Dec. 12, 1918, in Wilkinsburg, to his parents Edward W. Quinette and Viola R. McGilvray Quinette. He died Oct. 2, 2012, in Boynton Beach, Fla. Mr. Quinette owned and operated the W. C. Quinette Boat Docks and the Somerfield Marine Co. in Somerset County, before retiring to Florida. He became a 32nd degree Mason on Nov. 24, 1946, and was a Charter member of the Boynton Beach Square Club. Mr. Quinette was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Baumgartel Quinette and is survived by his son, E. William Quinette, Add., of Boynton Beach; his grandson, David K. Quinette and wife Sharon of Boynton Beach; his granddaughter, Pamela S. Kasten of Spring Hill, Fla.; his great-grandson, Ethan W. Kasten; his sister, Helen Q. Boldt of Tallahassee, Fla.; and his brother, Richard T. Quinette of Ligonier. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward W. Quinette and Col. Charles F. Quinette. Mr. Quinette’s final resting place will be in Addison Cemetery, Addison. Faust, Boswell; and special beloved granddaughter, Ava. Sister of Rose, married to James Charnesky, Grazier; Walter, married to Joy Vought, Boswell; and Nancy, married to Jay Pyle, Friedens. Also mother- and father-in-law, William and Mary Fritz, Jenner Crossroads; and sisters- and brothers-in-law: Marjorie, widow of Larry Hauger; Virginia and husband, Barry Friedline; and Laura and husband, Robert Hauger. Landis; granddaughter Susan Joy Hemminger; sister, Anna Laura Trent and husband Ellis Trent; and nephews, Marlin Miller and Ellis Trent Jr. Survived by daughter, Martha Hemminger and husband Jack of Somerset; grandchildren: Samuel Hemminger and wife Christine; Mark Hemminger and wife Wendy; and Julie Zanoni and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren: Nicole, Faith, Cody and Noah Hemminger, and Ryan Zanoni. Member of the Rayman Church of the Brethren and The Golden Singles. Owned and operated the L & N Restaurant for 17 years and was a graduate of Somerset High School. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Eric Raygor officiating.
