Joseph F., “Papa Joe,” Donitzen Sr., 79, Windber, went to be with the Lord Feb. 1, 2013. Born June 4, 1933, in Indian Head, son of Frank and Mary (Michniak) Donitzen. Preceded in death by parents; stepgrandson Tony; and numerous brothers and sisters. Joseph was the last of 13 children in his immediate family. Survived by wife of 49 years, Marsha (Emhoff) Donitzen; and these children: Annette, wife of Michael Riley, Rebecca Jo, wife of James Tweedie, Joseph Donitzen Jr. and wife Marie, Kimberly and companion Melissa, David Donitzen and wife Wanda, and Christopher Donitzen and wife Robin; grandchildren: Samantha, Jeffrey, Brittany, Amanda, James, Tommy Joe, Nicole, Andrew, Jessica, Crystal, Carrie, Misty, Brittany, Ashley, Faith, Zachary, and Jonathan; great-grandchildren: Makenna, Braydon, Kayla and Shayne. Also numerous nieces and nephews. U.S. Army veteran, Korean War, paratrooper. Retired truck driver having worked for Hruska and Sleek Trucking. Joseph was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved hunting, gardening and cooking. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Ridge Road, where Joseph was a member of the church council. Friends received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Friends also received from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Lutheran Church. Pastor Nila Cogan. Interment church cemetery with grave side military honors, Windber VFW Ritual Team.
