Frank Edward "Ed" King, 87, Rockwood

Frank Edward "Ed" King, 87, Rockwood, passed on Feb. 15, 2013, at the In Touch Hospice House. Born Aug. 30, 1925, in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, he is the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Cramer) King. He is also preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Pletcher) King in 2004; brothers Ralph, Wilmer, Winfield, and Howard King; and sisters Zelma Pletcher, Nellie Bungard, and Martha Pletcher. Ed is survived by his daughter Diane L. Smith of Rockwood; grandsons Craig Smith and wife Kimberly (Keslar), Bryan Smith and wife Crystal (Parks), and Matthew Smith and wife Kim (Bowman), all of Rockwood; and great-grandchildren Molly Jo, Taylor, Paige, Courtney, and Thayne Smith, and Marlee Parks. Ed was an infantry veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II serving in Central Europe and Germany. He was a long-time contractor and sub-contractor with his brother-in-law Roy Pletcher (Pletcher & King Contracting).  He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local  2274 and the Somerset Masonic Lodge 358. He was also a member of the Ursina American Legion. Ed was a longtime member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Scullton where he held many positions over the years. He enjoyed church activities, being in the woods, hanging out with his grandchildren, and spending time with his friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, pastor Denton Lester officiating.  Interment at the Church Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.  Online condolences may be sent to www.millerfuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
