Vernon W. “Ike” Bittner, 80, Meyersdale, died May 3, 2013, at home. Born Oct. 17, 1932, in Summit Township, the son of Edward L. and Nellie (Emeigh) Bittner. Preceded in death by his parents; wife Clara (Wahl) Bittner; brothers: Edward, Clarence, and Donald “Mike”; and sisters, Vivian and Dorothy. Survived by daughters, Vicki Skoff and husband Phil, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Christine Gnagey and husband Jerry, Meyersdale; granddaughter, Melissa Skoff, Cuyahoga Falls. Also survived by brother Duane “Joe” Bittner, Meyersdale; sisters: Lois Werner, Meyersdale, Shirley Ewen, Carmichael, Calif., and Delores Laderer, Jensen Beach, Fla. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and he is a retired cement finisher with the Cement Masons Local 526, Pittsburgh. A member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Meyersdale, VFW Post 3504, Meyersdale and American Legion Post 112, Meyersdale. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Frank Harpster III officiating.
