Richard Miller McQuade, 94, of Stoystown died May 15, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Nov. 28, 1918 in Berlin, son of Andrew and Eva Ellen (Miller) McQuade. Preceded in death by parents, step mother Anna (Romesberg) McQuade, half sisters Anna Louise Kuzupas and Isabell Brewer, and half brother Edward McQuade. Survived by his wife of 74 years, the former Ila R. Zimmerman; daughter Colleen E. married to Gary L. Bentz, Stoystown; and son David R. McQuade married to the former Ann Hayward, Idaho; granddaughters: Kristi married to Brian Hanlon and Tiffany married to Joel Landis; and great-grandsons: Zachary and Garrett Hanlon, and Dylan Landis. A 1937 graduate of Shade High School. A World War II Army Veteran receiving two Bronze Stars. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of the Rhineland, received the Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and W.W. II Victory Medal. Former employee of Rockingham Light, Heat and Power Co., Central City, and Penelec. Member of Kantner United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kantner United Methodist Church, and from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Rev. Dennis Zimmerman officiating. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. Graveside military rites by Somerset County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be given to Kantner U.M.
