Arnold M. “Arnie” Weidner, 81, Berlin, was called from this earth by his heavenly father on May 21, 2013, at Somerset In-Touch Hospice. Born Oct. 31, 1931, in Allegheny Township, he is the son of the late Fred and Amelia (Woida) Weidner. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Sloan; sister Rose Wasylczak, brothers-in-law John Sloan and Rev. Earnest Hale. Survived by brother Ed (Mary) and family, Philadelphia; stepson Gene (Valary) Riel, Ohio; niece Spring Rose (Dennis) McManus, Philadelphia; sister-in-law Gladys (Rodger) Hale, W. Va.; brother-in-law Rev. Clay (Gerry) Sloan, Florida; niece Ruth Ann (James) Moss, Florida; niece Linda (Joe) Meyer, Ohio; other nieces and nephews; and special friends Connie, Leah, and Cindy. A 1949 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School where he was active in FFA as a chapter president, county reporter, and state secretary. A Korean War veteran, he served with the United Nations forces for 16 months during and after the war, he also served as a military policeman. Among his medals were the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Ribbon, the United Nations Medal, ROK Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, and Korean Occupation Medal. He was discharged as a corporal. After the war, he took a job with General Expressway of Chicago as a tractor-trailer driver until the company relocated. Arnie was a lifelong dairy, beef and grain farmer, a family business in Allegheny Township. He was a life member of Berlin VFW Post 7295, where he served two terms as commander and was also selected as all state commander. Member of Berlin American Legion Post 445 where he served as assistant chaplain. He also served six years as a constable for Allegheny Township Arnie was also often seen at the Lions Clubs, churches, and schools giving speeches on the Korean War and the cause of the war. Dorothy V. “Nan” Creamer, 88, of Berlin, passed on May 22, 2013 at The Patriot. Born July 1, 1924 in Baltimore, Md., she is the daughter of the late Durbin and Hazel (Milner) Parks. She is also preceded in death by her husband William Creamer. Nan is survived by her children Sandra Wood and husband Bruce of Sabillasville, Md., Michael Creamer and wife Linda of New Freedom, Mark Creamer of Berlin, and Jane Baker and husband Mike of Berlin; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Nan was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to garden with William, growing vegetables and flowers on their farm in Stonycreek Township, where they moved after retiring from the Baltimore, Md. area. She also leaves behind her sister: Rose Augustine, Berlin; her brother: Rick Decker, Garrett; her grandchildren: Daniel, Kimberly, Candice, Logan, Wyatt, Dawson, Matlyn, Alexis, Noah, Tommy, and Sienna; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Nancy C. “Carol” Gary, 73, of Rockwood, passed on May 22, 2013 at the In Touch Hospice House. Born Aug. 29, 1939 in Rockwood, she is the daughter of the late Leonard and Reba (Cameron) Shank. She is also preceded in death by her husband James Gary; sister Wilma Shank; and brothers Leonard and James Shank. Carol is survived by her children Kathy Gary of Somerset, David Gary of Somerset, Allen Gary of Johnstown, Sandy Stanga of Somerset, James Gary and wife Shanda of Bedford, and Eugene Gary of Somerset. Carol was a volunteer with the Salvation Army who participated in the Flight 93 Crash Site cleanup on Sept. 11, 2001 and later, in Biloxi, Miss. for the cleanup of Hurricane Katrina. She was a long-time caregiver for her handicapped brother and sister, and often drove the elderly of Rockwood to doctors’ appointments and for groceries. She was a friend to anyone who came her way. Eugene (Gene) Richard Coughenour died at his home in Earlysville, Va. on May 23, 2013, at the age of 88. A memorial service will held at Ivy Creek Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11 a.m., Pastor James Thornton officiating. Born in Berlin in 1925, he was a graduate of Berlin High School and retired as plant manager of Briggs Industries (Inc.) Somerset Facility in 1985. Gene was preceded in death by parents Merle Edgar and Mildred Miller Coughenour; two brothers, James and William; and daughter-in-law Patricia (Pagen) Coughenour. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Miriam (Schrock) Coughenour (Mim) of Earlysville, Va.; son Alan and daughter-in-law Catherine (Katie) Coughenour of Salisbury; daughter Brenda Neckerman of Burgettstown; grandson Ronnie Ford and wife Jessica; grandson David Tichenor and fiancee Jen Roedler; grandson Scott Coughenour and wife Melissa; grandson Brian Coughenour; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Autumn and Mason; sister-in-law Sandra (Schrock) Zentkovich and husband Andrew; brother-in-law Harold Schrock and wife Teddie; brother-in-law Charles E. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II participating in the invasions of Sicily, Italy, and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. Survived by his mother of Meyersdale, formerly of Brownsville; aunts and uncles: Pamela and Rodney Rhoads, Ronald and Jody Wells, Arthur Wells Jr., Cindy and Michael Kurtz, Joseph Wells, and Lisa Wells; great-aunts and -uncles: Lois Ferree, Furman and Mary Frazee, Cecil and Shirley Burton, Elma Zedaker, and Lee and Martha Gazelle; and many beloved cousins. He was a 1987 graduate of Charleroi High School and had been a printer with Specialty Printing of Charleroi and the Uniontown Herald-Standard. He attended the Wesleyan Methodist Church of Brownsville and enjoyed fishing and watching the Penguins. Judith Ann Maust, 74, of Jerome, formerly of Hooversville, died May 29, 2013 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born June 3, 1938 in Hooversville, daughter of Clark Sr. and Frances "Fritz" (Gindlesperger) Fish. Preceded in death by parents; husband Ralph L. Sr.; sisters: Joan Harmon, Barbara Paugh; brothers: Clark Jr. and Ryan Fish, and special friend Fred "Buzz" Herwig. Survived by children: Sherry married to Bernard Nanna Sr., Johnstown; Brenda married to Kenneth Karashowsky, Hooversville; Ralph Jr., Saxton; and Richard married to the former Tracey Mulhollen, Hollsopple; grandchildren: Bernard "BJ" Jr. and Peter Nanna, Betsy Karashowsky, Lyndee Walker and Dustin Tennis; great-granddaughters: Mya Nanna, Hailey DeWitt and Ella Walker. Sister of: Lois Landis, Joyce Ankeny, Gloria Deneen and Nina Shaffer. A 1956 graduate of Forbes High School and a member of Hooversville V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed vacationing in Florida and gospel music.
